Millennium Management

Buy-side · Multi-strategy pod-based hedge fund · New York City

Pod-based, so interviewers (individual PMs) can ask almost anything, prepare a two-pronged screen of probability/stats and pandas/coding.

Difficulty: ●●●●Recruits in India

Millennium is a multi-manager 'pod shop' where teams hire fairly independently, so process and emphasis vary by pod. A HackerRank/take-home coding assessment is common.

Because PMs run their own rounds, expect breadth (stats, ML, coding) plus a crisp story on anything you list.

Roles they hire

Interview processas publicly reported

  1. 1

    Coding assessment

    HackerRank/CodeSignal (~8 questions split between probability/stats MCQs and coding, or a ~24-hr take-home).

  2. 2

    Technical rounds (2–3)

Often one coding/pandas and one math/probability; some report a betting/probability game (Kelly reasoning useful).

  3. 3

    Final round

Usually with the desk/team head, covering math, coding, and finance; frequently no formal HR round.

What they test

Prep tips

  • Drill the two-pronged screen separately, timed probability/stats MCQs and pandas/LeetCode coding.
  • Because each pod runs its own process, ask your recruiter what the specific team emphasizes.

India recruiting

Bengaluru is a major technology hub; Millennium launched an India recruitment drive with an inaugural Bengaluru quant intern class. India quant roles skew toward developer/engineering; a structured campus program is still emerging.
